What happens when we restrain and repress language? It happens with censorship in literature and journalism, with culture monopolies and with social networking.
Society is uneasy about the human ability to express ideas and thoughts through language. In totalitarian and theocratic societies it is broken, tortured and reduced to silence. In free societies it is broken, tortured and reduced to “tweets”.
Imagination and memory are being stifled.
Through Zweetz’s next major production ‘BECKETT SOUNDS’, the company explores the current degeneration of language, imagination and memory through the dramatization of two of Samuel Beckett’s works: ‘THAT TIME’ and ‘WORDS AND MUSIC.
