The aim of the laboratory is to explain in depth the basic rules and innovative ideas of Cricot-2 Theatre.
The laboratory will include both theoretical and practical sessions.
Theory will be conveyed during conversations with participants, lectures and presentations of DVD movies.
In theoretical section we will be trying to explain the basic conceptions of Cricot-2 Theatre activitie, an ABC of Cricot, a short history of the development of Cricot-2 Theatre’s ideas, key ideas as autonomous or independent theatre, ‘reality of the lowest degree’, ‘memory cliché’, ‘manikins’ or idea of journey.In practical section together with the participants we will trace the selected methods of artistic actions and the process of a performance formation.
Object based devised work in the tradition of CRICOT 2 THEATRE
We will attempt together with participants to create etudes and scenes adopting methods mastered by Cricot.
We will give some thoughts over the various theatrical spaces and their consequences for the actor;
- using an object by a performing actor;
- the function of costume;
- the meaning of a costume;
- bio-obiects.

About the course
- It is designed for artists (actors, dancers, acting teachers, set designers and theatre operators).
- The course is residential and hosted in the countryside of Pavia at Associazione Artemista in Spessa .
- Sessions will be held in English.
- The course want to be also a life experience and shared accomoda-tion and meals will be part of it.

About Andrzej and Teresa Welminski.
Visual artists, stage directors and actors.
Andrzej Welminski graduated in the Graphics Faculty of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, in 1977.
Teresa Welminska graduated Collegium Medicum- Krakow.
They joined the Cricot 2Theatre(Andrzej in 1973 and Teresa in 1976) and devised and performed in most of the happenings and theatre productions until the death of its founder, Tadeusz Kantor, in1990.
They have been instrumental in developing the work of the company since Kantor’s death, and in 1991 they staged the “Homage” that marked the first anniversary of his passing. Working as theater direc-tors staged their own projects: Manjacy(1993), Ameryka czyli nieoglądaj się za siebie(1995), Demon ruchu(1996), Rzeźnia wg S. Mrożka(1997), Da liegt der Hundbegraben – Germanias Halluzinationen(1997), Hydromaschinen Prozession(Esslingen, 2005), Minęło, minęło, I tak przeminą wszystkie historie…(2007), Traumatikon(2011), Flammarion(2011), Pages from the book of… (2012).
They collaborate with several Universities in the UK and overseas, run-ning workshops and seminars on the legacy of the Cricot-2.

Scopo del laboratorio è quello di esplorare in profondità le regole base e le idee innovative di Cricot-2 Theatre. Il laboratorio include sia una parte teorica che una parte pratica.
La parte teorica verrà esplicata attraverso momenti di conversazione con i partecipanti, spiegazioni tematiche e la visione di alcuni film e ri-prese video degli spettacoli di Kantor stesso.
Durante le sessioni teoriche verranno approfonditi i concetti fondamen-tali su cui erano imperniate le attività di Cricot-2 Theatre, fornendo una base per la comprensione del linguaggio di Cricot-2 e una breve storia dello sviluppo delle idee di questo movimento artistico e culturale.
Verranno analizzati e spiegati concetti quali il teatro autonomo o indi-pendente, il livello più basso di realtà, i clichè della memoria, l’idea del viaggio. Nelle sessioni pratiche verranno insegnati i metodi per la crea-zione e la scelta delle azioni artistiche e verrà sperimentato il proces-so che porta alla costruzione della performance. Il lavoro sulla costru-zione dei personaggi si svolgerà attraverso l’utilizzo di oggetti secondo la tradizione di Cricot-2 Theatre.
In un coordinato lavoro d’ensamble, i partecipanti creeranno insieme agli insegnanti “etudes” e situazioni sceniche adottando i metodi di Ta-deusz Kantor.

Il corso
– Il corso è indirizzato ad attori, danzatori, insegnanti di recitazione, sce-nografi e operatori dello spettacolo
– Il corso sarà residenziale e ospitato nella campagna pavese presso l’ Associazione Artemista di Spessa .
– Il corso sarà tenuto in inglese ed un traduttore affiancherà gli inse-gnanti.
Alloggio e pasti in condivisione saranno parte integrante del percorso formativo.

Andrzej Welminski si è diplomato alla Facoltà di Grafica dell’Accademia delle Belle Arti di Cracovia nel 1977.
Teresa si è diplomata al Collegium Medicum di Cracovia.
Si sono uniti a Cricot-2 Teatro rispettivamente nel 1973 e nel 1976 e hanno contribuito alla realizzazione della maggior parte degli „Happenings” (termine coniato proprio dal movimento) e delle produzioni teatrali fino alla morte del fondatore Tadeusz Kantor nel 1990.
Dalla morte di Kantor, hanno avuto un ruolo determinante nello sviluppo del lavoro della Compagnia. Nel 1991 hanno messo in scena „L’omaggio”, in occasione del primo anniversario della morte del fondatore.
Come autori e registi, hanno realizzato Manjacy (1993), Ameryka czyli nieoglądaj się za siebie (1995), Demon ruchu (1996), Rzeźnia wg S. Collaborano con diverse università della Gran Bretagna e oltre-oceano tenendo seminari e laboratori sul retaggio di Cricot-2 Teatro.
