What we do
An old Russian proverb says: "If you go to
your porch, look up at the sky and jump to the stars, you will just land
in the mud."
Often the stairs are forgotten. The stairs must be constructed. As a young
actor, I had no idea of the amount of mastery needed in the craft. That's
why, now, I wish to stress that stairs are needed. This is our technique
as artists and no matter how creative we feel ourselves to be, we have
no channel for our creative force without technique. Technique means craftsmanship,
a technical knowledge of our craft. The stronger your creativity is, the
stronger your craft must be, in order to arrive at the needed equilibrium
which will let your resources flow fully. If we lack this ground level,
we surely land in the mud. -Thomas Richards
Charioteer Theatre was founded as a Theatre company in 2004, and is based in Morayshire, Scotland where it puts on regular Acting courses for both professional and potential actors, as well as community and audience involvement.
All our lectures and modules are specifically based on Stanislavski's Method, developed and integrated by Anatoli Vassiliev and Giorgio Strehler's teachings.
Charioteer Theatre is also able to offer it's programme of Acting modules out at other locations and venues in the North of Scotland. Themes may be adjusted or developed according to specific needs of the client organisation. Costs and fees are negotiable depending on requirements, logistics etc.
The programme of modules is always evolving, and Charioteer Theatre reserves the right to change the content until a specific constract is made with any hosting organisation.
Our intention is to give artists opportunities to extend their knowledge and improve their skills. For this reason Charioteer Theatre puts focus on the process, and not on the result which very often put artists under pression and doesn't give them the time and space to research in depth and to express their creativity to the full.
We will regularly present our work to the public and we always welcome interested observers. Our productions will be the result of the research and will come at the end of an intense laboratory period. Ultimately we aim to train actors that will be able to offer the best and to go beyond their apparent best.
