A COURSE FOR EXPERIENCED ACTORS AND POSTGRADUATE ACTORS

This course is designed to help the actor further investigate the structure of the Shakespearian language, engage in a deeper analysis of the circumstances presented by a specific scene and to create and sustain the necessary energy to support performance.

 

Subjects of study will be:

  • Iambic pentameter and rhythm
  • Use of the space
  • Structure of the play
  • Establishment of the relationship between two characters
  • Construction of the scene
  • Construction of the character

A series of exercises will aim to support the actor's work to best enable him/her to understand the material and its context, process it and ultimately deliver the performance.

  • Exercises will include:
  • Breathing and vocal work
  • Focusing
  • Body awareness and analysis
  • Energy awareness and building of Intensity on stage

Each participant will be allocated a part in a dialogue scene and can expect to take part in individual, pair and group work. Participants will be informed of scene allocation a few days in advance.

Accommodation: A list of B&Bs and hostels will be made available upon request.
