Wow! Lecce is such a beautiful place! We only arrived last night and already I have fallen in love with this place. The buildings are magnificent! We arrived last night from Molfetta which was lovely. Our last night there was a bit of a late one. We started dinner at midnight and didn't leave the restaurant until 2am. Just before trying to leave for the first time, we were called back in again to have a grappa before we left!
The next morning was quite hard to wake up. The journey from Molfetta to Lecce is a bit of a tired blur to be honest. We got to Lecce around 4pm. The accommodation once again is lovely; I am staying in what used to be an old church. It is very beautiful although we only have one bed while the two boys have 6 beds between them!!! Maybe Mercutio needs a different bed for each of the characters??? Anyhow the show nearly did not happen today due an incident in the restaurant on the previous night. The meal there was delicious, and before paying the bill I decided to go to the toilet. You don't need to know the details in the toilet, but as I went to leave the toilet, I could not open the door. I pulled and pushed to get the door open but it wouldn't budge!! I did not even have my mobile on me to call the others to help me. I started knocking on the door to get someone’s attention... no answer. I looked at my watch it was 8:30pm, I knew I had a show in the morning and really hoped that I would be rescued. 'Romeo? Romeo??' ... no answer, bloody Montague’s! He can climb into the Capulet garden no problem when he’s looking for some fun, but when I’m in danger he cannot even get me out of a toilet! Looks like I had to try and find someone else to rescue me... now my italian is not great, and I could not remember the word for help, all I could say was ciao which is ‘hello/bye’! So there I was, Juliet stuck in the bathroom, knocking on the door shouting ‘Ciao’ like a mad woman! Needless to say it is not my proudes
t moment! Luckily after what seemed like 20 minutes of shouting ciao and knocking I heard a familiar voice say 'Juliet???' , it was Mercutio, thank goodness! Mercutio said 'are you ok?', he sounded a bit concerned for me , as if he thought I just sat on the toilet saying ‘Ciao’ to myself!!! I told him I was stuck, after some time of Mecutio pulling the door from the outside and me pushing it I got out! Hooray!!! word of the day 'aiuto', it is a good one to know!!!

Hello!
We arrived in Molfetta last night and I have really enjoyed myself since. We had a lovely meal in a restaurant I cannot recall the name of and then we were given some wine as a gift from the theatre owners. We were up early this morning to get breakfast before we arrived at the theatre at 8:30am.We had a lovely breakfast, I had a chocolate croissant, which was delicious. So much chocolate! Well done Italy! Then we went off to the theatre. During the first death, Romeo's death had such an effect on me that I decided to stab myself like I had never done before in all of the times of repeating the death scene. As I drove the knife into my stomach there was a loud cracking noise, which sounded like a bone had broken which got a few murmurs from the audience and a raised eyebrow from the technician (luckily it was just the prop knife that had broken, or maybe not so lucky for Laura who now has to search for a new prop knife, sorry!).
Anyhow after the show we went for drink I had a ... drum roll please ... a cappuccino. Now I am not usually partial to coffee but when in italy... I can manage it when taken with two sugars. Then we went and had a lovely lunch at malelingue (which translates as someone who speaks badly of someone else like two faced/bad gos
sip) I am not sure why it was called that as the people there were lovely (or maybe that’s just one side to them!!!) anyway the meal included lovely appetizers which was ham and courgettes and then some appetizer which tasted like tuna but was not. Then we had beautiful mussels with a lovely tomato sauce and then seafood pasta!
As Mofetta is by the sea, fish is the speciality! Romeo however does not like seafood (bloody Montagues!) so he just had cheese on his pasta! Then pudding.... everyone got a coffee/ chocolate cake apart from me, I had a fruit salad and this seemed to raise a few eyebrows! Then my favourite part of the meal, as those who know me well would say, was the alcoholic beverage to finish it off. I tried a speciality of the south a lemon liquor, which was lovely. Since being in Italy I have learnt it is important not to drink alcoholic drinks in one go, even is they look like a shot, as this act will only brand you as an alcoholic! Then we went shopping, woo! We went to the outlet, which had very nice things but I was good and did not buy anything ( a bit boring hey!). Plan for the rest of the evening, head to a workshop and then to a bar. Italian word of the day: ragazza which means girl.
ciao!

Today we had a day off! and hell did we make the most of the morning off. the night before romeo and juliet went to a restaurant where we had previously managed to get a free pudding but this time sadly we had to pay for everything we ate. We both had pizzas and even treated ourselves to a bottle of wine. Unfortunately a bottle was a bit too much for Romeo and Juliet who could not finish it and as they were already late to meet some friends, did the unthinkable and did not finish the wine they bought!!! However they made up for this by drinking lots that evening. Starting with vodka and cokes at the bar which apparently is not a normal drink in italy! It is also quite expensive 7 euro, so my next drink at the bar was red wine 3 euro, ah much better price! There was so much snow outside we had to get driven to the club, and after a few more drinks and a game of 'I have never...' later we came home at the early time of 4:40am!!! fantastic night! I have decided I am going to have an italian word of the day everytime I write this blogs and todays is 'vino rosso' which I ordered at the bar. ciao!
