Jesu Maria, what a great lunch we were offered by the director of the theatre. I must say that such good wine made my head slightly fizz and I might just take home a couple of these bottles to place in my collection of special inhibitors from abroad. It's quite hard now-a-days to compete with all these new medical companies, and all the young ones turn to commercial distilling liquors instead of trying my home made recepies.
It has been great to stay at my Italian brothers' accomodation, and had a chat to some of the early birds in the morning during the rather dry breakfast. In fact more than the biscottone and biscotti with multipurpose tea-coffee-hot chocolate machine, we didn't see or eat much more. Back in Verona in the old days, we used to have such delicious loafs of fresh bread, I tell you! May our good baker Gilberto rest in peace.
During these eight shows, my humble teachings and descrete beggings for the poor were not a great success, gathering a total amount of 15 cents of euro from a couple of young sinners. I was hoping in more collaboration from the northern-Italian mob, but was decieved. My young accolytes told me latin would be a good joker to play in Italy, and I might just put in a word or two when we perform in the south.
Romeo and Juliet are getting on fine. Juliet has some nose drippings during her scenes which shine in the special light effects, but as said before, she will prefer these Barocca fizzy things instead of listening to my wise words and taking my organic natural herbs. Romeo is talking about going to parties with his groupies he collects during our labs and I advise him strongly to take heed. I must say their « snogging », as how youngster call that rather naughty act of kissing, is lasting longer and more passionate in my eyes, and will have to put a word into that... God pardon sin! Mercutio instead has been spending his pocket money on Italian fashion of course, and who can blame him? Poor guy, has to perform with holes in his trousers and die so that the kids don't see the colours of his pants.
We have given rest until Monday, travelling on the day of the holy Lord and rehearsing a couple of small things the next day. I will miss the wonderful churches here in Piacenza and the very special hospitality given by these teachers and people from the theatre. I gave them a special benediction.
Very well, don't forget to confess your sins. I will turn to my cell and prayers.
